The Opportunity:
We wish to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the ‘Exploring Children’s Digital Money Futures’ project in collaboration with NatWest Banking Group.
The post holder will work closely with lead investigators, creative technologists, project partners and participants to undertake fundamental, qualitative and design-led research with children and their families in Scotland, to understand children and families’ perspectives on digital monies. We will explore 1) how children currently interact with (digital) money in their everyday lives and 2) what children think the future of money could look like.
This post is part time at 0.8FTE. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working, so long as the core qualitative in-person research can be accommodated.
Your skills and attributes for success:
A PhD or equivalent professional qualification (or near completion) in social science, humanities, Human-Computer Interaction or design that utilises qualitative and/or design-led methods
Experience of qualitative studies involving children, young people and/or families
Experience of diverse partner and stakeholder engagement
Knowledge and experience of academic publishing including e.g. first authorship and evidence of strong/independent writing capabilities in relevant venues
Desirable Experience and/or knowledge of current FinTech practices
Desirable participatory design and/or speculative research with children and families
