Secondary 1:1 Behavioural Teaching Assistant
• Job Type: Long term until July (strong potential for permanency after)
• Location: Plymouth
• Day rate: Minimum of £90 per day (potential permanent offer at £17,000 annually)
We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Behavioural Teaching Assistant to join our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) team. This role is focused on supporting secondary aged students (11-18) with Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing them with a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
• Create and maintain a safe and positive learning environment for students with behavioural challenges.
• Identify behavioural issues that affect students’ learning experiences and address them with appropriate strategies.
• Work in collaboration with teachers and other professionals to support students’ reintegration into full-time education, further education, or employment.
• Encourage personal growth and self-esteem in students through positive reinforcement and tailored support.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioural management plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience working with children with SEN.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to establish a rapport with students.
• A passion for inclusive education and a commitment to helping every student succeed.
• Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEN, or behavioural support are advantageous.
