Become a 1:1 Pupil Carer at Belmont Secondary School, part of Acorn Education and Care and start working towards yours.

  • £19,500 - £20,500 per annum depending on experience
  • 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday
  • Fixed Term - 12 months from start date

About the role

Under the reasonable direction of the Head of School, carry out the professional duties of a 1:1 support worker. To assist in the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for the student. To contribute to raising standards of student attainment. To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their full potential. To be aware of students with their special educational needs and how to support them appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Attend to pupils' personal needs including toileting, hygiene, dressing and feeding, as well as help with social, welfare and health matters, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate.
  • Physically assist pupils in activities (may involve hoisting/lifting, where mobility is an issue).
  • Requires the regular manoeuvring of pupils with severe physical disabilities;
  • Prepare and clear up the learning environment and resources and contribute to maintaining a safe learning environment, including photocopying, filing and the display and presentation of pupils' work.
  • Responsible for the careful and safe use of specialist equipment eg standing frames, sensory equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding procedures;
  • To be the secure person for an identified student by supervising and providing support, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.

Essential

  • Grade C/4 and above in English and Maths
  • Knowledge & understanding of the National Curriculum
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in working relationship with young pupils and in forming effective professional relationships with a wide range of contacts
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • The ability and willingness to work constructively as part of a team
