Year 3 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Salary: £75 - £95 per day
We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 student with special educational needs (SEN), specifically autism and challenging behaviour. This role requires a compassionate individual with prior experience working with Year 3 pupils and SEN. The successful candidate will be instrumental in providing tailored support to facilitate the student’s learning and development.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide one-to-one support to a Year 3 student with autism and challenging behaviour, ensuring their safety and engagement in learning activities.
- Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively and promote positive behaviour.
- Work closely with the class teacher to adapt materials and lessons to meet the student’s individual needs.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Monitor and record the student’s progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Facilitate social interaction and inclusion within the classroom and during break times.
- Prepare the learning environment, resources, and equipment as directed by the class teacher.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with Year 3 pupils and SEN, particularly with children on the autism spectrum.
- Understanding of the strategies needed to manage challenging behaviour and support children with SEN.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s educational and social development.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
