As a Pharmacy Support Worker, you’ll work closely as part of a team who are committed to making a difference to patient care by ensuring safe and efficient provision of specialist sterile medicines including chemotherapy, intravenous and intrathecal injections and nutritional infusions to adult, paediatric and neonatal patients in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Royal Hospital for children and Young Persons. Pharmacy Support Workers are key members of our team and essential to delivery of this service.
We are looking for applicants with a minimum National 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. You will also be supported to complete an SVQ unit while you work as part of your development.
This role involves working within the aseptic suite to complete preparation processes required for aseptic dispensing as well as duties to maintain and monitor the cleanroom environment. Other duties will include medicine ordering, receipt, delivery and stock control as well as administration and general housekeeping duties.
Previous experience within pharmacy services or stock management is beneficial but not essential as training will be provided. Basic keyboard skills are essential.
Weekday hours would be Monday to Friday (08-30 to 12-15) with participation in weekend and public holiday rota.
