Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Physiotherapist to lead the Physiotherapy Orthopaedic team.

You are responsible for the clinical management, coordination and delivery of effective Physiotherapy services within the unit.

The Orthopaedic unit consists of both trauma and elective patients. It is an exciting and dynamic area to work with a excellent team working ethos and a very supportive MDT. You require leadership skills to guide and educate junior staff and students in their decision making, facilitate a high turnover of patients, meet the demands of a busy caseload and maintain the quality of assessments and treatments Also to ensure that all patients are discharged in a safe and timely manner to their most appropriate destination. The team also provides a service to the Fracture clinics and the Paediatric ward as required.

As lead for this service you will be required to offer support, training and education to your team and the wider physiotherapy service. Orthopaedic unit has a rostered service at weekends to ensure continuity of care for the patients and this is worked as overtime. You would have a role as part of both the Acute Physiotherapy team but also the Acute AHP Leadership team

The Physiotherapy service offers structured appraisal and actively promotes Continued Professional Development through in service training and external training.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
