2024 Higher Level Apprenticeship in MechatronicsTraining Design ApprenticeLocation: BelfastAre you looking for an employer who will sponsor you through a degree, whilst providing valuable and exciting on-the-job experience within a global, innovative and industry leading organisation?The role will develop your engineering skills to become a confident, positive and flexible apprentice with strong technical knowledge gained from on-the-job training and university studies. Supporting the team to undertake service-engineering activities to deadlines and within budget, within own competence supervision in a professional manner, in accordance with relevant specifications, standards and Thales (Chorus II) documentation processes.As a Technical Publications/Training Design Apprentice, you will develop the key skills and experience in the following:
Gain knowledge of engineering subjects; electronic, mechanical, software engineering and Integrated logistics Support.
Familiarise yourself with the key techniques and technologies used in the design and implementation of the product Thales products
Learn to verify maintenance and operating procedures by assessing on hardware and software equipment
Learn to read and interpret engineering CAD models, drawings and specifications
Gain knowledge of the different disciplines within the Services function and understand how you design equipment for supportability
Gain knowledge and be able use Services tooling and software packages
Learn and maintain knowledge of current industry standards for all service disciplines
Work with the British Army UK Armed Forces and the MoD MOD to develop and maintain cutting edge publications, training tools, and methods, and media
Specialise in the disciplines of Technical Publications and Training Services:
Technical Publications development and generation (including online help)
Technical Publications authoring and illustrating.
Training Needs Analysis
Product Training Courseware Development (including online e-learning development)
Face to face training delivery
Higher Level Apprenticeship in Mechatronics:Mechatronic Engineering unites the principles of mechanics, electronics and computing. It combines mechanical engineering, problem-solving and design skills with expertise in digital electronics and computing systems to produce advanced products and systems through automation and the use of robotics.As a Technical Publications/Training Design Apprentice you will be studying towards a Higher Level Apprenticeship in Mechatronics at South Eastern Regional College. For the duration of this 3 year programme you will combine academic studies with practical application, working within our Services function in Belfast. You will be given one day per week in which to attend college lessons, lecturers and tutorials. For the other four days you will be working in the business, applying your college learning in a real-life engineering environment. For those who are successful in achieving the apprenticeship, there will be scope to progress onto Higher Level learning at Ulster University - joining Year 2 of their BEng in Mechatronic Engineering.This opportunity is available in Belfast. Who we're looking for:We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, committed and keen to learn. You will be a self-starter who is able to manage their time, show initiative and has a genuine interest in engineering and Thales. Successful candidates will show self-discipline and an aspiration to achieve a degree qualification.Entry requirements:
5 GCSEs grade A-C (4-9) including English and Maths2 A Levels (CC) including STEM subject or BTEC in Engineering (Merit or above). Please note that applicants who already hold a relevant degree will not be eligible for this programme.Right to Work in the UK for the duration of the four-year programme.Please note, assessment centres for shortlisted candidates will be held between February and May 2024.
