Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice

What you'll be doing
Through our Manufacturing Apprenticeship you'll be making the most of your talents, getting to understand manufacturing from the ground up; and doing so with the help of one of the biggest and best names in the industry.
These positions are for a full Modern Apprenticeship programme culminating in the attainment of an SVQ Level 2, SVQ Level 3 and an Academic qualification.
On completion of the 4 year programme successful candidates would achieve fully qualified Engineering status.
Year 1: For the first 5 months you will undertake your SVQ Level 2 through day release with a further education provider. The last 7 months of Year 1 will be completed in the Thales on site specialised training centre.
Year 2 & 3: Participate in training within production work cells on a rotational basis, to obtain a fully flexible range of core skills on all aspects of the manufacturing processes of Assembly and Test. All training recorded and verified to SVQ standard and externally assessed and verified.
Year 4: Complete full SVQ job packs to obtain full qualification. Progression to Product System Testing, Inspection, Optical Testing and Environmental Testing. Full review of further education achieved and consider higher level qualification if appropriate.
These roles are based in Glasgow, within the Optronics business.
Who we're looking for:
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, committed and keen to learn. A self-starter who is able to manage their time, show initiative and has a genuine interest in Thales. Successful candidates will show self-discipline and an aspiration to build a career within the manufacturing function.
You will also need:
5 standards (Level 1-3) or 5 National Level 5 grades including English and Maths
Please note, assessment centres for shortlisted candidates will be held between February and May 2024. Induction week for all Graduate and Apprentices will run from Monday 2 September until Friday 6 September 2024.

As standard, all successful candidates must possess the permanent right to work in the UK, and will be required to go through Government security clearance at BPSS Level prior to starting with us and then to obtain full Security Clearance (SC) in line with the United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) requirements.
To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years' residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks. As part of the vetting process you will be asked to provide evidence of your identity, eligibility to work in the UK, time spent abroad over the last 5 years, as well as employment and / or educational history.
