Your New Role:

We have a fantastic permanent opportunity for a 24 Hour Messenger who will deliver prompt and proficient 24/7 messenger services to occupants of Main Building and other governmental facilities in Whitehall.


The standard hours of work are 36.25 per week.


Messengers play an important part in providing a courteous, prompt, and efficient service to all users of Main Building and other government facilities. Ensure timely delivery of time-sensitive mail within the Whitehall group buildings and the London area.

You will be responsible for:


  • Obtain signatures for all mail items and accurately record delivery times on journey sheets.
  • Deliver daily newspapers and press cuttings to the Duty Press Officer.
  • Handle private mail delivery.
  • Provide out-of-hours support to the Helpdesk.
  • Adhere to security regulations outlined in JSP 440 regarding mail receipt and delivery, promptly reporting any breaches to the Distribution Services Manager.
  • Comply with all health and safety legislation, including completion of relevant training such as 'Master Classes/WorkRite'.
  • Adhere to all Amey policies and procedures.
  • Understand and follow emergency procedures.
  • Obtain and maintain all necessary security clearances.
