Job description

Are you passionate about Yorkshire’s rivers, lakes and coastal waters? Do you have an interest in water improvements?
This role is critical to developing and maintaining our evidence base and plans to improve our water environment in Yorkshire.
In this role you’ll have the opportunity to use your environmental knowledge and data management skills to work across disciplines to facilitate environmental improvements. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with good planning, communication, and data handling skills to help plan and deliver multi-functional environmental benefits.
You will work with internal and external partners developing and interpreting evidence across Yorkshire river catchments. You’ll support the delivery and development of opportunities to improve the water environment, through:
- Supporting the team’s Grade 5 Environment Planning Specialists
- Responding to Freedom of Information Requests
- Co-ordinating and attending catchment planning and consultation meetings
- Preparing data reports for catchment planning meetings as directed by Environment Specialists
- Using the Catchment Planning System to extract Water Framework Directive (WFD) Data
- Be instrumental in developing the team’s ability to carry out data visualisation tasks using Geographical Information Software (GIS) mapping.
The team
Integrated Environment Planning strengthens our environmental evidence base, driving integrated delivery to achieve the best for Yorkshire’s environment.
Integrated planning is our ability to look at a defined geographical area and understand the pressures, risks and priorities. We join up our planning work to focus our resources, maximise the opportunities and talk to partners and communities about environmental concerns. This is fundamental to achieving our 25 Year Environment Plan ambitions.

• Good communication/influencing skills.
• Experience of using GIS or other software/systems to bring complex data and evidence to life.
• Sensitive to the needs of a range of stakeholders and able to deliver outcomes through these.
