3D Workshop Instructor

Hours: Varies Contract: Casual Leeds Arts University is the only specialist arts university in the North of England. We have contributed significantly to the development of arts education for over 170 years, and have developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students and staff. We are looking for highly skilled and flexible 3D Workshop Instructors to join our casual pool of staff in excelling our teaching provision to our students. As part of the University’s student resource facilities, we operate five 3D workshops located at 2 sites in Leeds City Centre; these comprise of: casting; ceramics; plastics; metal, and wood. 3D Workshop Instructors instruct students in the safe, appropriate and professional use of a range 3D techniques according to personal skillset and as required by course curriculum. To be successful in the role, candidates must have demonstrable ability of instructing in and supporting and instructing others with technical processes to a professional standard in at least one or more of the following areas: Wood Woodworking methods by machine and hand building Metalwork techniques A working knowledge of plastics Laser-cutting CNC Router Metal Welding (MIG, TIG, Spot, Oxy-Acy) Metal Casting (Sand Casting and/ or Lost Wax) (Bronze and Aluminium Only) Plasma cutting (manual and/or CNC) Sheet Metal/General Fabrication Skills Ceramic Glazing application and methods Hand building techniques (Slab and Coil) Loading and operating of kilns Papermaking Casting Mould making /casting techniques. Model/ armature making techniques Resin (Epoxy, Polymer, Foams) Plaster working Wax working (lost wax) Applicants should be aware that this role involves some flexibility in working hours and could include evening sessions when required.
