Pembroke College wishes to appoint a part-time College Lecturer in Computer Science, from 1st April 2024, for up to 1 year. This is a fixed-term appointment to cover maternity leave. All of our teaching is in small groups (tutorials of two or three students and classes of up to six). We expect you mainly to teach students in the first and second years of the degrees in Computer Science, Maths and Computer Science; and to students on their Junior Year Abroad from Universities in the USA, Hong Kong and China, who are studying Computer Science or Mathematics and Computer Science. You will be required to cover the following papers: Linear Algebra Functional Programming Design and Analysis of Algorithms Algorithms and Data Structures You will be required to provide teaching for an average of 6 hours’ contact time per week during the eight weeks of Oxford’s three terms. You will also be expected to set and mark weekly problem sheets, set and mark college exams and participate in undergraduate admissions. You will also take on administrative and pastoral responsibilities, including organising teaching and helping students to adjust to the course in their first term at Oxford. The salary is in the range of £15,244-£16,983 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. You will have a teaching and research allowance of £375 per annum; use of a room for teaching and you will also be able to take some lunches and dinners free of charge in College throughout the year. All salary figures are 2023-24 rates and are subject to annual uplift. College lectureships of this type are designed to provide teaching opportunities and valuable experience often making them of interest to doctoral students in the final stages of their degree and early-career academics holding other posts who are seeking additional teaching experience.
