Grade UE07, £37,099.00 - £44,263.00 per annum. (A revised salary range for this grade of £39,347 to £46,974 is planned to take effect from Spring 2024)
College of Science & Engineering, School of Engineering, Institute for Energy Systems
Full Time, 35 hours per week
Fixed term contract for up to 36 months
The Opportunity:
This Research Associate position will contribute to the [SuperMachine Project] within the [Institute for Energy Systems] at the University of Edinburgh, which is funded by [The Royal Academy of Engineering].
This role is UE07 and is available on a fixed term basis for up to 36 months.

Your skills and attributes for success:
PhD in Applied Superconductivity (or submitted and awaiting viva) with a focus on the engineering design and build of cryogenic cooling systems.
Experience of electromagnetic, thermal and structural modelling of superconducting coils in COMSOL or similar.
Experience of setting up and using cryogenic equipment with associated instrumentation and control Systems for testing superconducting materials and coils.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience of presenting at conferences, and to senior engineers industry, as well as writing technical reports and publishing papers.
The ability to be creative and flexible whilst working as part of a team as well as independently.
