Job description


Manchester Local Care Organisation are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and compassionate Screening Technician with good communication skills to join the Greater Manchester and East Cheshire Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme (GMECAAASP) - a successful, innovative and friendly screening team, based at Wythenshawe Hospital.
Applications are invited from both trainees and qualified AAA Screening Technicians. Working to National and Local Protocols you will use/be trained to use ultrasound technology to detect Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) in men aged 65 years and over in order to save lives.
Trainees will be offered formal training in AAA screening, including the use of ultrasound and all administration processes. This will lead towards qualifying with an eDiploma in Health Screening to confirm clinical competency as an independent AAA Screening Technician.
You will be required to work at multiple sites across the Greater Manchester and East Cheshire region, transporting necessary equipment to clinics. It is essential that you are able to travel independently to fulfil the requirements of the post. The ability to meet the travel requirements of the role are essential, therefore the post holder must have access to a car with business insurance and a clean driving license.
This is a AFC Band 4 role (Band 3 whilst training, Band 4 upon accreditation) for 22.5 hours per week, flexibly worked Monday - Friday office hours with the occasional early evening or Saturday.
Enhanced DBS is essential.
This role requires the postholder to undertake duties within a care home setting. In accordance with the Coronavirus Act 2020, prior to the take up of this position. The successful applicant will be required to provide evidence they have received two doses of an authorised vaccine , or provide evidence of medical exemption in accordance with the Covid 19 Regulations. This verification will be required at or before interview / selection. Interested applicants must ensure this verification is available to be produced when requested.
