Job description

Applications are invited for an Academic Support Officer (1.0 FTE) withinthe School of Innovation and Technology at the Glasgow School of Art. You will be based at our Glasgow campus.

Reporting to the Academic Support Manager, the Academic Support Officer will be responsible for the following:

  • Supporting the School of Innovation and Technology Operations across all locations.
  • Directly supporting the Head of School with calendar management, logistical and one to one support.
  • Directly supporting the Academic Support Manager and Operations Director.
  • Academic committee minute taking and timely dissemination of Minutes/Action Tracker.
  • Supporting recruitment activities by Academic Programmes through our Quercus/Discoverer system.
  • Create and process Excel and Sharepoint documents to support the Operations of SIT.
  • Work collaboratively with all staff and students in the Haldane Building and wider SIT to support PGT programme needs.
  • Travel to Forres and The Hub (Glasgow) regularly to support Academic and Facilities compliance.
  • Support and process Academic governance in relation to Boards of Studies meetings and local SSCC’s.
  • Liaise with Professional Support Teams.

The successful candidate in this role will have the following experience and skills:

  • Significant administrative experience.
  • Excellent communications skills with strong written and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent knowledge and demonstratable use of relevant Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Powerpoint, web-based tools, and software.
  • Excellent timekeeping and attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
  • Sound judgement, excellent time management, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to prioritise whilst working under pressure.
  • Ability to work to agreed objectives, milestones, and deadlines.
  • An ability to influence others and gain commitment to a common goal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-sector, cross-cultural or interdisciplinary environment.
