About The Role

This key position is based in the Participation@CampusLife team who work with colleagues across the Student Life Directorate offering impartial, non-judgemental advice and support services to all students in a relaxed, friendly, and confidential manner. This unique role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to make a positive difference to students lives by offering practical assistance and information to those groups of students who may face additional challenges when accessing higher education.

 

Working within Participation@CampusLife, this role will take the lead in the development and delivery of current support programmes for newly enrolled students and will have specific responsibility for students who are asylum seekers, refugees and those with indefinite leave to remain and will lead on delivering the Swansea University Sanctuary Scholarship. This will involve regular communication with new applicants across the University, provision of expert levels of advice and guidance as students’ progress through their studies, and a desire to appreciate and understand the diversity and challenges of the student experience.

Via engagement activities, training staff and liaising with a wide range of Swansea University departments and external agencies, the post holder will also be responsible for raising the profile of the developing and existing practice Student Life currently undertakes in this area.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and empathic individual with exceptional organisational, communication and customer service skills.  You will need to have excellent inter-personal skills, experience of prioritising multiple tasks in a diverse environment, be able to demonstrate professionalism, competency, and confidence in your oral and written communication.

You will need to be able to adapt readily to change, undertaking and taking the lead in establishing sound advisory, administrative, and recording procedures.  This will require you to have excellent people skills and a drive to deliver a service focussed on supporting students.
