Accessioning Technician

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accessioning Technician to join a leading Diagnostics company based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Accessioning Technician you will be responsible for the proper handling and preparation of specimens for laboratory testing. This position also includes functions such as matching patient information, data entry, aliquoting and employee engagement.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Accessioning Technician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. As the Accessioning Technician you will receive and sort specimens for testing, including sending specimens to appropriate reference laboratories by coordinating shipment process, maintaining client information and generating the necessary logs.
2. You will review all requisitions for missing information, working closely with client services to obtain required information in a timely manner.
3. As the Accessioning Technician you will enter data into the laboratory information system (LIS), label samples, generate specimen travel documents, and forward respective samples to personnel/departments.
4. You will attend department meetings and company in-service trainings to enhance knowledge of testing and systems.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Accessioning Technician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant degree in a Life Sciences subject or equivalent (e.g. Biology).
2. Proven industry experience in Accessioning, working in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment maintaining production and quality standards.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience in a biohazard environment complying with health and safety standards.
