Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Data Integrity HR Team and lead a small team of payroll and pensions officers.  If you are experienced in working with payroll providers, then this is the role for you.

The Data Integrity HR Team sit within the Finance Directorate and report into Corporate Finance.  The team have overall responsibility for dealing with payroll related processes, HMRC, Local Government Pension scheme and the Teachers Pension scheme.

Main Responsibility

You'll:

  • Manage a small team of officers
  • Ensure that the accounting & HR systems reflect the requirements for financial information
  • Be the main contact for the councils four payroll providers and work closely with them to ensure that they are compliant with payroll and pensions legislation
  • Work closely with the Accounting Services Manager and colleagues in People Services and Finance

The Ideal Candidate

You'll have:

  • Proven experience of working within a financial function. 
  • Experience of managing / supervising a team,
  • Knowledge of payroll and pensions legislation,
  • Experience of using and interrogating financial & HR systems to produce high quality data reports,
  • A proficient use of spreadsheets and Office 365 and system tools for the production of reports,
  • The ability to work flexibly and creatively to meet changing priorities.
