We have a fantastic opportunity for an Accounts Payable Team Leader to join the Finance Team, based in Ashford, Kent, on a full time basis for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

As part of our continuous development and growth strategy, we are offering flexible hybrid working with 1-2 days based in our Kent office for team collaboration and meetings, so you must be within a commutable distance.

You will report into the Account Payable Manager and you'll be responsible for managing and inspiring a team of up to 7 Accounts Payable handlers. Offering daily support as well as line manager duties including HR policy management, coaching and driving the people engagement agenda across the department. As part of the Accounts Payable Team, expect to be overseeing the entire finance process and ensuring that KPIs are achieved, and SLAs are adhered to. A great role for someone who has a strong people management background with experience in either Accounts Payable or finance.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Lead your team to ensure work priorities are met and are to the required standard
  • Take a business partner role, reaching out to a variety of teams to ensure a joined-up approach to AP
  • Be able to eloquently summarise any escalations to multiple stakeholders in a timely fashion
  • Assist your team to resolve invoicing disputes both internally and externally
  • Assess business processes and controls highlighting any changes and benefits
  • Confidently influence where required to achieve the desired outcome
  • Be able to coach, train or inspire your team to help them reach their maximum potential
  • Be able to drive change in a measured approach relevant to your team members
  • Review and assess output and KPI's to take the appropriate action
  • Adhere to HR policy management at all times

About you:

You'll have strong people management skills as well as experience in Accounts Payable, credit management or a similar finance role, to ensure a clear understanding and running of the end-to-end process across your team. This role will suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced commercial environment and enjoys communicating with people at all levels across the business through a variety of means. You will have a roll up your sleeves approach and be naturally inquisitive. You like to ask the question why. You will be able to adhere to HR policies and be able to handle some potentially difficult conversations but also recognising positive team contributions. You will have a good work ethic and lead by example. This is a key role to ensure supplier payments are paid within payment terms, stakeholders are kept up to date and your team feel supported.
