Job description

We are seeking a driven Accuracy Checking Technician to join our dedicated pharmacy team at our Boots pharmacy on the high street in Winchester, Hampshire.
This store is a busy high street store located in the center of the beautiful thriving picturesque City of Winchester with its magnificent cathedral, river and historic buildings. Visitors flock to the city to enjoy the experience of time gone by.
This fantastic store consists of Walk in Pharmacy, DDS and care Services. The store provides many services supporting the community and are currently working with the NHS with a research programme.

Your role will be to support Pharmacists to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services..
As the face of the dispensary, you are key to helping us change for the better in the local community!
You will be conducting the crucial final accuracy checks on dispensed medication, checking drug names, and quantities match the label.
You are the last person to see medicines or products before they are used by a patient or customer!
Pharmacy Opening Hours:
Monday to Friday - 9:00am - 6:00pm
Saturday - 08:30am - 6:00pm
Sunday - 10:30am - 4:30pm

You must be registered on the GPhC register to be eligible for this role.
Boots can accept minimum NVQ level 3, and we offer boots ACT training – 6 weeks. Or, completion of an Accuracy in Dispensing (AID) course, accredited by the GPhC or ACT qualified candidates hold an NVQ Level 4.

Your main duties will include:

  • Accurately check customer prescriptions that have been clinically checked by a pharmacist whilst meeting regulatory and company standards
  • Ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing and endorsing of prescriptions
  • Providing expert, tailored advice to every customer about the medicines, products and services we offer
  • Building great relationships with your Pharmacy team, coaching and inspiring them to deliver the highest standard of care to our customers and patients
  • Responsible for legal, safe & ethical decision-making in the pharmacy
  • Seeking opportunities to engage external stakeholders to secure locally commissioned services and drive services and items
  • Delivering efficient dispensary operations to ensure dispensing losses are minimised

What you’ll need to have

  • Previous pharmacy experience
  • Be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • A passion for customer care
  • Ability to coach and lead the Dispensary team
  • Able to work as part of a busy team

It would be great if you also have

  • An Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification, however if you don't have this then we will be more than happy to train you.
