Acute Learning Disability and Autism Liaison nurse Band: 5
Location: Based at Royal Cornwall Hospital, covering St. Michaels hospital and West Cornwall Hospital as required
This post has been developed to increase access and reduce health inequalities for people with learning disabilities and/or who are on the autism spectrum.
Act as a resource for the acute hospital regarding the complex health needs of people with a Learning Disability and or on the autism spectrum.
Manage the interface between mainstream general hospital services, primary care services and community specialist disability services.
Support children and adults with Learning Disabilities and /or Autism as Inpatients, outpatient appointments and emergency attendances.
Develop effective and collaborative working with healthcare and multi-agency colleagues, including identifying and meeting the training needs and providing specialist and nursing advice.
Incorporate the philosophy outlined in “Valuing People”, working closely with the Equality and Diversity, Inclusion lead.
Work in adherence with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, advising other staff on its correct application and working closely with the Mental Capacity Act Lead.
