About the role:
Reporting directly to the Director of Children’s Social Care (CSC), the role of Assistant Director is both strategic and operational. Assistant Directors form the senior leadership team, setting the strategic direction for the whole directorate and leading and managing operational teams in their area of accountability. Creating the right culture and environment for the workforce to flourish and ensuring operational plans are delivered are core to the job. It requires working collaboratively across the Children, Young People and Learning Department which includes Education, and with partners internally and externally. All Assistant Directors have a key role to play in delivering our Corporate Parenting responsibilities.
About you:
We are looking for someone with a proven track record in delivering and leading complex children’s services and a clear ability to do so in a large authority. You will be an excellent strategic manager, with a strong background in professional social care practice, performance management and partnership working. You will need the ability to work collaboratively to lead and embed a performance focused culture to deliver high quality outcomes.
A proven track record of leading teams to transform services and achieve significant, sustainable, service improvements and better outcomes for children and families. Extensive experience of operating successfully within a senior leadership team, shaping, and influencing innovative and high-quality practice in high performing teams. You will possess the proven ability to strategically plan for the development of services, with an understanding of what good looks like. You will be passionate about enhancing delivery to children and young people, with the ability to engage positively with children, young people, their families and their carers.
