Job description

How you'll make a difference

This is a crucial role in ensuring that South Gloucestershire residents have access to safe provision which is well managed and delivered to the best professional standards.  You will be spearheading and co-ordinating a strategic and proactive approach to organisational safeguarding issues, overseeing the work of a small, dedicated team, but also working with a much larger quality assurance partnership.
We are seeking a job share partner to work alongside our experienced Adult Safeguarding Manager.   This role provides you with an excellent opportunity to develop your experience at a senior level whilst working to prevent and address organisational safeguarding, and strategically on broader Adult Safeguarding issues.

What will you be doing?

  • It will be your responsibility to advise, influence and work with partners within and outside of the Council, to maximise the effective provision and/or development of a joint safeguarding service.
  • You will contribute to development strategies, and deliver professional, direction and expert advice to departmental staff, enhancing the skills and performance of service provision
  • The role will require you to promote professional standards through active management possibly with reflective professional supervision.   You will ensure compliance with relevant professional codes of practice and core standards.

What we need from you

  • You will be a qualified social worker with a current SWE registration.
  • It is essential that you have substantial experience in a professional supervisory capacity in adult social care, social work and safeguarding.
  • It is key that you have the proven ability to work alongside the care provider sector in both preventative/partnership roles, and in challenging and holding other services to account.
  • Given the nature of this role you will be able to demonstrate your ability to think and act strategically, solving problems and making decisions regarding Adult Safeguarding issues.
  • You will have experience of managing change effectively and the ability to manage major projects, in a safeguarding /social work setting.
  • You must be able to build effective relationships both internally and externally, influencing decision makers and working collaboratively with stakeholders.
