Job TitleAdvanced Apprentice Head Office Paralegal Portsmouth

Location Portsmouth

Salary We offer a competitive salary with annual increases throughout the apprenticeship and a range of employee benefits including, free higher education as well as access to the Company pension and Share Incentive Plan

What you will be doing

Our Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship scheme aims to develop A-Level or equivalent qualified individuals into Solicitor Apprentices with a broad understanding of various aspects of the law and how these fit into the wider business organisation.

As a member of the wider legal team supporting one of the world’s most advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security companies, you will develop the skills and experience required to support the business through its decision making and plans for future growth by getting involved in a multitude of tasks, whilst working directly with the support and guidance of our experienced lawyers.

You will spend one day per week studying with our training provider and learning the relevant skills and behaviours to be successful in your role. To complement your studies, the Apprenticeship has been designed to expose you to a variety of legal opportunities across our wider business by rotating around some core areas. Each role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your legal and business acumen skills, as well as growing your soft skills.

This scheme would particularly suit an individual who is keen to get involved with various aspects of a legal role within one of the world’s most advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security companies, who enjoys problem solving and who is committed to furthering their career through an external study programme.

If you demonstrate the aspiration and potential to further excel in your field, you’ll have the opportunity of progressing onto the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship, for an additional four year period where we will continue to support you towards your full Solicitor Qualification Examinations and qualification as a Solicitor.

Your skills and experiences

With our guidance and training, you will be able to demonstrate the skills and experience to enable you to:

  • Support the provision and delivery of legal advice to key stakeholders within the wider business
  • Conduct routine legal research and present your findings in a clear and concise way to others within the business
  • Engage with stakeholders appropriately and adapt your communication styles and tools appropriately, including escalating problems when appropriate in line with organisational policies and procedures

Whilst we recognise that you will not have much (if any) legal experience at your level, we appreciate candidates who can demonstrate at the application stage some of the softer skills we expect from our legal team colleagues with examples from your current educational or working role/s.

What Qualification will you get?

By the end of the Apprenticeship, you will obtain: Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship
