Job description

We are looking for an excellent Hair Colourist to join our growing team. A vacancy exists for an experienced Colour Technician who wants to work as part of a great team at a one of Brighton’s leading hair salons with a reputation for excellence in our technical standards, training & education & customer service.

As Brighton’s preferred colour salon we have high demand for specialist/corrective colour and creative colour. You will be required to demonstrate a high level of ability in bleach application, correction, colour blending, balayage and toning.

We are looking to recruit a creative and passionate hairdressing colourist who works to the highest professional standards and enjoys learning and educating. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate outstanding capability and extensive experience in environments that operate to very high standards. Evidence of continual learning and development both technically and personally throughout your career is also required.

We anticipate a successful candidate will have at least 5 years of qualified experience (although this may be less for exceptional candidates).

Qualifications

  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing or equivalent
  • An advanced colour qualification is an advantage
  • Able to teach principles of colour, thorough understanding of colour wheel, undertones – enhancing and neutralising, pre-pigment and colour correction

Technical skills

We are seeking a hairdresser with extensive experience and the highest standard of skills in the following techniques:

  • All aspects of colouring including correction (knowledge of Redken or Davines colour is an advantage)
  • A range of contemporary colour application techniques
  • Styling & finishing
  • Hair up styles (preferred but not essential)

Personal skills

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Great team member
  • Strong communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good organisation skills
  • Good product knowledge and retail skills
  • Good time management skills

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting in-salon education sessions and developing education content
  • Building a client base through excellent service
  • Prescribe correct care products to all clients
  • Detailed knowledge of retail product ranges offered
  • Full knowledge of all the services and prices offered

Conditions

The position is Full Time (around 35 hours per week) and we offer a generous total package consisting of a fixed salary plus commission with 28 days of paid holiday

  • The salon is open 6 days a week with late opening on Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • The position requires the applicant to work five days a week with days off assigned on a rotating basis

Training

We are committed to the highest quality of staff training and personal development. A training and development plan is agreed during the first 3 months of employment and reviewed as part of the appraisal process. Training typically takes place both at L’Oreal/Redken Exchange & Davines Academy in London, GHD Academy in Soho or in Salon.
