Job Title: Advanced Practitioner in Ultrasound

Location: Various locations (Manchester, Stockport based) Community Ultrasound NHS

Salary: £44,500 per annum + (Negotiable based on experience)

Contract Type: Permanent.

Shift Pattern: Full and part time hours available.

Job Summary:

  • To provide general abdominal, pelvic, small parts and MSK (if appropriately trained) ultrasound scanning services in conjunction with other Sonographers and health care professionals.
  • To independently perform ultrasound scanning duties to the required standards of Beacon Medical and to produce a clinical report for each ultrasound scan undertaken.
  • To undertake any administrative duties that may be necessary for speedy progression of patients and patient results.
  • To actively participate in matters concerning clinical governance, clinical audit and assessment.
  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
  • To adhere to company policy and procedures in terms of health and safety, data protection and confidentiality.
  • To give full co-operation in any investigations of a complaint or untoward incident
  • To ensure that professional and technical knowledge/expertise is kept up to date and to maintain a portfolio to show evidence of personal professional development.
  • To be able to work independently within a clearly defined set of Beacon Medical protocols and make informed clinical decisions .
  • For each examination undertaken, a comprehensive diagnostic report will be formulated.
  • Support the pharmacy department to deliver an excellent medicine management service to all customers, supervising the procurement, preparation, dispensing and distribution of medicines.
  • To provide pharmaceutical expertise and input to the care of the patients.
  • To facilitate the daily running of the pharmacy department, providing a safe and effective medicines management service to all patients, staff, consultants and customers.
  • Provide clinical input with respect to medicines to all patients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely charging.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory, professional and best practice frameworks.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Degree in Pharmacy
  • Registration as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (any existing or pending Fitness to Practice issues must be declared on application)
  • Postgraduate Diploma relevant to hospital pharmacy practice is desirable but not essential
  • Post registration experience of 2-3 years
  • Clinical pharmacy experience in a secondary acute setting, or proven ability to transfer clinical skills into an acute setting.

Essential Criteria: 

  • Diploma of College of Radiographers or BSc (Hons) Radiography (or equivalent).
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound.
  • Registered with the HCPC and On the RCT register
  • Eligibility to reside and work in the UK.
  • To be able to work independently in all main areas of Ultrasound practice.
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of ultrasound procedures.
  • 2 years post qualification experience gained in NHS trust practice.
  • Ability to organise and manage ultrasound lists and priorities.
  • Ability and willingness to work within the company performance framework and quality targets.
