Job description

Here in Rotherham, we value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create an inclusive workplace culture, that is accepting of all and is free from discrimination and bias.

We are working hard to build something special; our focus is on delivering the very best quality social work practice and our commitment is to put the person at the very heart of what we do, as we believe they deserve the best help to achieve their best outcomes. We enable people to remain independent and in control of their lives while staying connected to their community. Our staff are exceptionally talented and passionate, they have forged strong links with our health partners, the voluntary sector and our communities.

Adult social care is about supporting people to live their best lives, by helping people to live the life they want to live, in the way they want to live it. We follow a ‘strengths-based’ principle looking at ‘what’s strong, rather than what’s wrong’ to ensure we deliver Relationship Based Practice.

We are recruiting Advanced Practitioners with a range of different skills and experience. Roles are available across various locations within our Mental Health, Learning Disability, Community and First Contact team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join us as we enhance our working practice and support staff to put the person and good practice at the heart of everything we do. We work with adults with a range of care and support needs placing people at the centre of their support. You will undertake work of varying levels of complexity including Care Act Assessments, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) Assessments, Court of Protection applications and s42 safeguarding enquiries.

The role of the Advanced Practitioners will be hands-on. You will have a smaller caseload, working with people with a complexity of needs. You will also share your knowledge and experience with colleagues through supervision and mentoring.

Our Advanced Practitioners will help champion high-quality professional social work practice standards by encouraging and supporting opportunities for reflection and learning. You will deliver on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to unqualified or alternatively qualified staff, students, and less experienced social workers.

As an Advanced Practitioner, you will provide professional leadership and some supervision to colleagues within your team, supporting the team manager with your team’s day-to-day operations when required and contributing to effective and efficient services.

About You

We are looking to recruit exceptional Social Workers with the right values, skills, knowledge and experience to contribute to further enhancing and embedding strengths-based practice within the workforce, which is built around people’s desired outcomes and goals. We have a good track record of achieving positive outcomes for people through our innovative and progressive approaches which is evidenced by our award-winning teams and individuals. We welcome applications from experienced Social Workers who can demonstrate significant post-qualification experience in Social Services, health-related agencies, or related private or voluntary organisations.

You must hold a registration with Social Work England and be competent at or willing to work to the Advanced Practitioner level of the Professional Capabilities Framework for Registered Practitioners.

You will require a sound working knowledge of the Care Act, significant experience in undertaking complex safeguarding enquires and risk assessments and have comprehensive risk management skills. You will be able to demonstrate expertise in the supervision and development of staff, including performance management. We are looking for future employees who have a positive, forward-thinking attitude. Our teams are imaginative, locally focused, and flexible, we are searching for registered practitioners with a like-minded approach, working collaboratively as part of a team.

If you are a compassionate, innovative, and resilient Social Worker with the drive to deliver ever-improving performance outcomes for the people of Rotherham, then this is the role for you. In return, we can offer considerable professional growth and development within an environment that is both supportive and encouraging along with a generous benefits package.

Our Support Offer

In return, we offer an attractive benefits package and a commitment to ensuring that you achieve a healthy work-life balance and opportunities for flexible working arrangements that meet business needs. We also operate a hybrid model of office-based working and working from home.

You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave allowance and the local government pension scheme.

You will have excellent opportunities for professional development with access to our South Yorkshire Teaching Partnership CPC offer, progression routes and our newly launched practice framework.

We will support you in consolidating your skills and knowledge, assisting you in developing areas of specialist practice development such as Practice Educator, Approved Mental Health Professional and Best Interest Assessor training.

You will receive regular professional supervision and have the opportunity to critically reflect on your practice. We value investment in our workforce and you will be supported to develop your practice and progress in your career.
