To play an active part within a multidisciplinary team of professionals and contribute to team decision-making for suitability for cochlear implantation and the effective management of the patient pathway. To deliver the appropriate support, advice and services for a caseload of deaf patients, including complex and non-routine cases, offering a consultative service to specialist professionals in the community. To work with families and local professionals with a range of experience and backgrounds. To be able to adapt communication methods to ensure the patient/carer is able to understand effectively. To share their knowledge of technology alongside interpreting audiograms and reports. To undertake a functional assessment of patients of all ages and monitor and record progress in a range of areas. To share concerns about the patients overall functioning in an accessible way and provide advice to patients, their families and local services regarding expected progress.
