We're looking for an Advice & Advocacy Specialist to join our Services Team as we expand our support so that no dementia carer feels isolated, invisible or alone.

Salary: £40,000 c. pa FTE
Location: Remote, with attendance at in-person meetings required normally in London
Job purpose
To deliver a high-quality specialist Advice and Advocacy service for dementia carers contacting our Carers Support Line.
This will include:
• Provision of first line telephone support to listen, assess and advise.
• Delivery of casework, advocacy and representation services to secure carers rights and entitlements.
• Co-design and implementation of continuous quality improvement and performance processes
Key responsibilities
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
• Delivering a responsive and high quality first-line telephone support service for dementia carers.
• Assessing carers needs in an empathic and holistic manner to ensure their practical and emotional needs are understood.
• Providing accurate Advice and information to dementia carers in an accessible, impartial, and confidential manner.
• Providing comprehensive income maximisation checks to ensure carers are not missing out on welfare benefits, grants and wider financial support (e.g., help with travel and health costs).
• Delivering generic casework to secure access to services, review care arrangements or challenge decisions.
• Delivering benefits casework (where appropriate), this includes advice on eligibility, direct
assistance with the claiming process, and Advocacy with revisions, supersessions, and appeals.
• Providing advice, guidance and training to DCC staff and to organisations we partner with.
• Ensuring warm handovers/referrals to other organisations when involvement completes or if a new or emerging matter falls outside the parameters of our service.
• Supporting cross-functional activities, such as income generation and policy and campaigns.
• Co-producing and implementing case management, quality assurance, and performance reporting processes.
• Commitment to working flexibly across DCCs services including evenings and weekends when required.
