About the team and role:

 

We are looking to recruit talented and energetic teaching professionals to join Gloucestershire’s Advisory Teaching Service. In our team, we strive to inspire and enable our young people to thrive. Preparing young people for a happy, healthy, and fulfilling future is what it’s all about for us.

 

The primary focus of these roles is to develop inclusive practice and build capacity in schools and educational settings, so staff are better able to meet the needs of CYP with Communication & Interaction, Cognition & Learning and Social Emotional & Mental Health needs by offering advice, training, and support to ensure learners meet their potential and achieve good outcomes. They will also work directly with the workforce supporting children and young people, so they can access and take part in teaching and learning activities with their peers as independently as possible, and work towards achieving their aspirations.

 

About You:

 

The role of the Advisory Teacher includes:

  • Contributing to enabling the progress and better outcomes for Gloucestershire children and young people with Communication & Interaction, Cognition & Learning and Social Emotional & Mental Health needs.
  • Supporting school staff in their implementation of the SEND Code of Practice. This includes the provision of advice on inclusive policy, practice, and procedures/teaching strategies/resources.
  • Being involved in the process of identification of, and recommendations for, children and young people with SEND, including contributing to Statutory Assessment.
  • Developing and delivering training to settings.
  • Liaison with health professionals and partner agencies to ensure a multi-agency approach to advice and support.

 

Key requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Experience of being a SENDCo/SENDco qualification
  • Knowledge of current SEND legislation and practice.
  • Knowledge and skills in the use of IT eg Word and Excel.
  • A clear commitment and responsibility to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of CYP.
  • Ability to travel throughout the county.
