Salary: £48,117 to £52,880 per annum
Hours: Full time (37 hours per week)
Enhanced Annual Leave: 24 days per annum (plus bank holidays & Christmas shutdown)

Role Overview:

As an Affordable Housing at South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils, you will play a vital role in shaping and managing our Affordable Housing initiatives. Here's what you'll be doing:
Responsibilities:
- Service Planning: Provide valuable input into the creation and deployment of service plans, ensuring alignment with overall council objectives.
- Budget Management: Understand and contribute to budget planning, management, and expenditure, including the oversight and control of the budget for your team. This may also involve handling section 106 funds.
- Legislation and Best Practice: Stay up to date with new legislation and best practices relevant to your team, interpreting their implications, and developing appropriate policies, procedures, and practices to ensure statutory compliance and drive performance improvement and customer satisfaction.
- Policy Development: Prepare and present papers for cabinet, council, committees, and other relevant bodies.
- Alignment with Objectives: Contribute to the achievement of both councils' overall objectives by aligning your team with identified priorities.
- Affordable Homes Delivery: Support the delivery of affordable homes across both districts, making a positive impact on housing accessibility.
Experience/Qualifications Needed:
To excel in this role, you should bring the following qualifications and experience:
- A relevant professional qualification or equivalent demonstrable vocational experience.
- Proven successful line management experience is preferable.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of Affordable Housing.
- Experience in local government is highly valued.
Key Tasks for the Role:
As an Affordable Housing Team Leader your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading negotiations for Affordable Housing on large strategic sites and regeneration projects, including reviewing viability appraisals.
- Taking the lead on major policy projects as needed, offering advice on Affordable Housing matters related to new and emerging delivery policies.
- Managing section 106 funding requests and allocation, along with reviewing and updating grant funding criteria and policies when necessary.
- Developing policies to support section 106 allocations and overseeing their implementation.
- Supporting and nurturing community-led opportunities in the Affordable Housing sector.
