AFP is seeking a dynamic and motivated native-level English-speaking correspondent to join its reporting team in Berlin, Germany.
The successful candidate would be an all-rounder who is brimming with story ideas and able to cover anything from politics to economics to culture. The pace of news in Germany is fast and the candidate should be adept in identifying breaking news and turning them if needed into lively stories for a broad, international readership within minutes.
While the post is based in Berlin, the correspondent would be required to travel across Germany, and occasionally beyond, to cover major breaking news.
Key skills required:
- Proven professional experience in written journalism and an ability to write lively copy on a broad range of topics. A background in wire agency reporting would be a plus.
- A very good command of German is a must.
- Working knowledge of French, including the ability to translate accurately from French to English.
- Sound knowledge of German politics, culture and economy.
- Video skills an advantage.
