At Virgin Atlantic, our purpose is to ensure everyone can take on the world. Our vision is to be the most loved travel company. To achieve both, we're harnessing our spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation to reimagine the world and create thoughtful experiences that feel beautifully different at every opportunity.

In a nutshell

As we continue to grow our network and expand our Operations Control Centre (OCC) team, we are delighted to be growing our exciting Airline Operations Apprentice Programme. In this role you will support our OCC, which delivers the day to day flying programme, as well as assisting our Airport and Customer teams to deliver exceptional customer service at our base in London Heathrow or resolving ticketing issues with our customer teams.

This is a great opportunity to gain a valued qualification, whilst being paid, and to also work in a variety of environments which will give you a fantastic view of how the airline industry operates. You will be a part the core operations team providing support across multiple teams that are essential to smooth journey for our customers.

Day to day

This role provides the opportunity to shadow key teams in the OCC, as well as support operational delivery across the Operations directorate, gaining key skills to lay the foundation of a successful career within the OCC or wider Customer and Operations team.

The Airline Operations Apprentice will be deployed as needed by the Duty Director to best support the operational need on the day, across 4 core functions: Operations, Crewing, Customer Care and Heathrow Airport (Above wing) services. As part of this role, you will complete a Level 3 Ground Aviation Apprenticeship. At the end of a 15-month programme you will be able to apply for opportunities across the operations team and wider business that best suits you and your career ambitions.

About you

We are looking for a diverse range of applicants who have a real passion for aviation, perhaps wanting to change careers or even kick start their journey with us as Virgin Atlantic. No experience is necessary, as full training will be provided as part of the apprenticeship programme. You will have excellent communication skills, enjoy problem solving and have a strong sense of responsibility with the ability to work quickly and accurately.

The ideal applicant will be eligible for the apprenticeship scheme but also showcase Virgin Atlantic spirt through the following:

  • You will also need to have attained a minimum of 5 GCSE/equivalent passes including C/4 Maths and English.
  • You will be comfortable doing night shifts - therefore we need to ensure that you are at least 18 years of age
  • You will be required to travel to Heathrow Airport for certain days during the Apprenticeship programme. We encourage car sharing when possible. Please give this some thought before applying.
  • Ideally due to working locations to/from Heathrow or Crawley, it's preferable that you have a full UK driving licence and access to a car.

So, If flying operations and apprenticeships is your passion, we would love to hear from you!

To make your journey with us accessible and individual to you, we encourage you to let us know if you'd like a little extra help with your application, or if you have any individual requirements at any stage along your recruitment journey.
