We are looking for a passionate professional to join our Allocations Service within the Housing department at the London Borough of Bexley.
About the Role
With infectious and unwavering levels of enthusiasm, inspiration and motivation you will provide Medical Advice as part of a team responsible for the day to day delivery of the Housing Allocations Service and Housing Register.
In terms of Allocations, you will need to provide professional, consistent medical advice to help the Council prioritise applicants’ requests for priority on our housing register:
• Awarding medical priority according to housing policy
• Disability and accessible housing advice
• Maintain precise records with clear reasoning, to facilitate client feedback/ enquiries.
• Monitor referrals made to others for expert advice, and seek regular updates on progress.
• Refusal of offers
• Reasonableness to remain
• Locating outside the borough
• Damp and disrepair
• Effects of harassment and noise
• Requests for extra bedrooms and gardens
• And all other housing medical matters

Candidate Profile
You will apply huge personal integrity coupled with resilience to be part of a team that is known for delivering and keeping its promises.
You will work effectively to advise on latest guidance and case law, whilst undertaking your role as the medical advisor with the Housing Team, conducting assessments regarding medical priority banding for our vulnerable applicants.
The post holder will also take responsibility for preparing and presenting cases to the newly established housing panel, for cases where additional bedrooms on medical grounds are requested and record the decisions made, after updating the system.
You will develop and maintain close working relationships with other Council services and a wide range of other stakeholders in order to verify and facilitate the flow of information, achieve the prompt resolution of complex problems and ensure that, even where an input is required from a number of teams, service delivery is properly co-ordinated and the service user is kept fully informed of developments.
You will deliver a stream lined high quality customer focused service ensuring telephone calls, emails, letters and complaints are fully responded to promptly and to the highest possible standard in compliance with corporate guidelines or as instructed by the service manager.
