The primary objective of this position is to foster the lasting relationship between GBS and its increasing alumni base. In your capacity as the Alumni and Graduate Outcomes Manager, you will be instrumental in creating and directing a comprehensive suite of alumni-centric events that reciprocally enrich both our graduates and present student body. Collaborating closely with the Careers, Mentoring, Entrepreneurship, and Placements teams, your goal will be to connect the alumni engagement plan seamlessly into the broader departmental strategy, aiming at enhancing the career trajectory and success of both existing students and alumni.


A crucial facet of this role entails pioneering data-informed marketing and communication tactics to bolster alumni participation. As the Alumni and Graduate Outcomes Manager, you will steer the messaging and outreach for the Graduate Outcomes survey, offering valuable progression insights about our alumni to the Senior Management. Therefore, the role is about ensuring that our alumni remain part of the GBS family, both with one another and with GBS, to champion their continual professional growth, and to keep them informed about GBS's ongoing innovations and opportunities, encompassing internships and voluntary roles. An essential duty of yours will also be to smoothly transition our students into the alumni network, explaining the merits of maintaining ties with GBS. The Alumni and Graduate Outcomes Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that an institution's academic programmes remain relevant and effective in preparing students for success after graduation. Their work provides invaluable insights that can shape the strategic direction of these programmes and student support services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee and guide the promotion of the Graduate Outcome Survey and processing of the data.
  • Create a portfolio of Alumni activities, events and online support which actively contributes to the success of our graduates.
  • Instil a mindset of continuous learning in graduates, ensuring they remain adaptable in an ever-evolving job market.
  • Engage with alumni to maintain a strong network, which can be useful for mentorship, placements, guest lectures, and other collaborative initiatives.
  • Regularly gather feedback from alumni on their post-graduate experiences to refine institutional strategies.
  • Maintain a robust database of Graduate Outcomes, ensuring accuracy, privacy, and ease of data retrieval.
  • Based on findings, propose and help implement strategies to improve Graduate Outcomes, such as new training programs, curriculum adjustments, or additional student support services.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management, academic departments, and other stakeholders, highlighting the successes and areas of improvement.
  • Work closely with academic faculty and Deans to share insights and collaborate on curriculum enhancements based on Graduate Outcomes.
  • Inform the career’s service to ensure their offerings align with the needs and expectations of both current students and employers.
  • Assist in setting long-term institutional goals related to graduate success and employability aligned to those set by OfS.Build relationships with employers to understand their needs and expectations from graduates and gather feedback on the performance of recent graduates.Collaborate with external organizations or industry bodies to benchmark GBS Graduate Outcomes against industry standards or national averages.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for GBS Stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with best practices in outcomes assessment, emerging industry trends, and evolving employer expectations.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars related to Graduate Outcomes and employability.

Requirements

  • Analytical in approach with good research skills.
  • Demonstrable successful track record of project management.
  • Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to influence, collaborate and interact effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and interpersonal at all levels. Able to communicate confidently, build rapport and influence others.
  • Experience of alumni relations or university administration or marketing duties is beneficial.
  • High level of literacy and attention to detail to produce clear, concise reports and written briefings.
  • Experience of using and maintaining databases.
  • IT skills, and preferably experience of working with a customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Understanding of and passion for both higher education and for working with a diverse student body, especially mature students from a widening participation background.
  • You will be expected to work to deadlines and prioritise workloads.
  • Willing to work occasional weekends and evenings, and to go travel to our various campuses.
  • Achieved a minimum of GCSEs grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
