The Role: Principal Analys t , R enewable C hemicals , Biofuels Research
The Team: We are currently looking for a Renewable Chemicals specialist to join S&P Global Commodity Insights’ dynamic Bio energy Research, to help driv e research data and research globally on Renewable Chemicals feedstocks , primarily derived from the biofuels industry . The Biofuels Analytics team is part of the Agribusiness & Commodities division at S&P Global Commodity Insights. This team is responsible for generating insights into the biofuels market globally and for creating short and long-term views on biofuels supply, demand , and pricing. The agribusiness group offers data and research solutions on major crops and food commodities, fertilizers, biofuels, crop science , and animal health.
About the Role:
Over the past several years, the biofuels industry has seen tremendous growth amid increasing efforts to decarbonize the energy and transportation sector s. Strong growth is expected to continue driven by increasing biofuel blending and decarbonization targets imposed on the global transportation sector. As a result, there will be greater potential to place more low-carbon by-products from the production of biofuels and synthetic fuels as feedstocks for the chemicals and petrochemicals sectors .
We are seeking a Renewable Chemicals s pecialist able to develop and drive research and insights in the market for Renewable Chemicals feedstocks, primarily derived from the biofuels /low carbon fuels industry . These include researching, gathering data , and developing insights on current market trends, regulatory frameworks, risks , and opportunities for the biofuels and chemicals industr ies.

Take a leading role in coordinating research and creating analytical content covering the growing global market for renewable feedstocks (bio-based and synthetic) for the chemicals and petrochemicals sector s . Examples include renewable LPG and renewable naphtha from biorefineries for the production of olefins , and bioethanol for the production of ethylene, acetic acid and ethyl acetate
Create, manage and maintain models and databases to inform short and long-term supply and demand, and pricing of renewable feedstocks
Interface with chemicals market researchers and consultants within S&P Global Commodity Insights to align analyses and outlooks
Act as a subject matter expert for these markets, contributing to a wide range of S&P Global Commodity Insights publications
Develop and deliver presentations and thought leadership on topics around renewable feedstocks for the chemicals and petrochemicals sectors
Create charts, graphs, maps and other visual content that illustrates the trends S&P Global c ustomers need to follow
Engage with customers and potential customers, demonstrating expertise and acting as ambassador for S&P Global pursuit of analytical excellence
Basic Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or engineering preferred. Degrees in other field s would be considered with relevant experience
An ability to understand tec hnical and chemical process es
Excellent communication skills which include a concise written style, excellent verbal and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally
Experience in modelling, forecasting and quantitative analysis .
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
Innovative thinking and proactive behavior , able to work effectively and efficiently within a flexible global team environment
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Experience within chemicals or petrochemicals sectors
Experience within b iofuels industry or knowledge of existing and emerging bio and renewable technologie s
E xperience within other sectors, e.g., refined products or agricultural commodities would also be advantageous
Experience developing large supply and demand models, or energy system models
Understanding of low carbon policy and regulations related to f uels , chemicals or p etrochemicals
Commercial or trading experience within f uels, c hemicals or p etrochemicals
