Analytical Chemist
Job Summary
To work as part of a team analysing the company’s products and raw materials to ensure compliance with
customer requirements and in accordance with external accredited bodies such as UKAS and NADCAP.
Operating a range of analytical equipment within the company’s laboratories on a shift basis. Evaluating,
entering and certification of data.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Preparation of a wide variety of samples for different analytical techniques.
• Carry out a range of testing following Safety and Quality procedures on a range Super Alloys.
• Ensure testing equipment is maintained and calibrated prior to use.
• Ensure testing is carried out in accordance with the relevant procedure/specification.
• Evaluate the results against the standard/specification.
• Report discrepancies in results to technical supervision.
• Validate/ certify results on relevant media.
• Participate in quality audits as required.
• Order entry, general administration, responding to incoming customer queries.
• Work to provide results in a timely manner in accordance with planned dates.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner, participate in company safety and CI initiatives.
• Develop personal competence by internal and external training as required.
• Assist with equipment standardisation.
Skills, Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements:
• Metallurgy/Materials Science, Science or Chemistry based based qualification e.g. BTEC/ONC/HNC.
Candidates without these qualifications but who can demonstrate relevant industrial knowledge and
experience will be considered.
• Computer literate.
Demonstrable Experience of:
• Relevant experience of optical emission spectroscopy, x-ray fluorescence Carbon, Sulphur N2 and
O2 analysis by combustion, residual analysis by Atomic Absorption.
• Working in a UKAS/NADCAP laboratory-based environment
• CI initiatives/activities.
• Shift Working - 4 on 4 off
• Positive attitude to safety & quality.
The position also includes a bonus of up £3,929 per annum (£982 per quarter) OTE £44,236
