Summary
Oscar have partnered exclusively with a very well-established business in the East Midlands who are looking for someone to kick start their Data Science / Analytics practice. This is an incredible role; they have some business problems they are looking to AI to solve, and the potential impact of this role is huge. They have a huge amount of data, but their analytics offering is in its infancy at best so now is the time to add expertise to the team to lead this.
The Company
This is a well-known, very well-established business and a true leader in their field. They already generate a lot of revenue and are highly profitable, but AI / Data Science can add a huge amount of value here and potential is really untapped.
They have significant data systems in place; however, they are not tied into specific analytical tools or packages and a key part of this role is advise / discuss / give recommendations on this. They are currently experimenting with Fabric but are also in discussions with Snowflake and more.
There is already a MI / Business Reporting team in place which will support you.
The Role
This role really exists the get their analytics and AI capability off the ground, and there are short-, medium- and long-term objectives here. Short term there are some quick wins to be had, they have already had a play with some ML models, which returned some positive results, but this is really scratching the surface of what is possible here.
Medium term you we are really to solve some more complex challenges, to see larger returns and to drive a strong data capability within the business.
Long term there is scope to build a high performing team, to take on more projects, more challenges.
Examples of business challenges.
- Predictive modelling on market conditions
- Pricing optimisation / pricing indicators
- Stock location optimisation.
- Customer relationship / customer optimisation
- Marketing Analytics

Requirements
- Strong Programming Skills
- Strong Technical skills in analytical / data tools and packages (not looking for specific ones here though)
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven track record of use of analytics to drive business and revenue growth.
