Job description

Have you always wanted to make a difference and support your community? Perhaps you could be our new Anti-Social Behaviour Officer.
This is a key role within the Council to tackle and reduce anti-social behaviour across our Borough. ASB impacts the wider community, and you will have a real opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of residents in Gedling – serving people and improving lives!
What you’ll be doing....
You will be providing a proactive and victim-focussed anti-social behaviour service. This will include dealing with issues of domestic abuse, hate crimes and harassment, whilst ensuring a high level of presence and interventions in our communities.
You’ll be looking to provide preventative measures to help tackle and reduce harm that is caused by anti-social behaviour.
You will problem-solve with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure the best outcome is achieved, so you’ll be a great communicator and influencer and happy to engage at all levels.
You will be listening to the concerns of our residents and liaise closely with Elected Members and Councillors.
About you....
You’ll have experience in litigation, including court preparation, taking witness statements, court etiquette, instructing Solicitors and post management of Court Orders.
Ideally, you will have experience and a good understanding of the anti-social behaviour legislation. However, we would welcome applications from people who work in cross-over services such as youth outreach, community safety or social work.
You’ll have previous experience/knowledge of tackling anti-social behaviour within the community.
You’ll be great at building relationships, happy to talk to anyone and will understand your audience. Your ‘can-do’ approach will help you to achieve the right outcomes.
You will be adaptable in your style, happy to work flexibly to meet the needs of our customers and positive in your approach.
You’ll have strong case management skills, and attention to detail.
The role will require travel, so you will need a full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.
We would love the opportunity to tell you more about this role and invite you to contact Kevin Nealon on 0115 9013824 or Niki Pekal on 0115 9013865 or via email at kevin.nealon@gedling.gov.uk for more information. If you fancy a visit to meet our team and have a tour of the building, this can also be arranged!
Finally, at Gedling we offer excellent working conditions including a generous holiday entitlement, a comprehensive pension scheme and access to an Employee Assistance Programme, providing advice on a range of issues including financial and legal matters, and offering discounts on purchases from numerous retail outlets. We also offer employees reduced gym membership at Gedling’s Leisure Centres.

Proud member of the Disability Confident employer scheme
