Berneslai Homes has an exciting opportunity for an Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Officer to join their team based at Gateway Plaza in Barnsley with the ability to work agilely. You will join us on a full-time (37 hours), permanent contract, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of  £29,269 to £32,076 per annum.

The Anti-Social Behaviour Officer role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Anti-Social Behavior (ASB) Officer to join our Neighbourhood and Tenants First Service!

As our ASB Officer, you’ll work as part of a team to improve and support our Neighborhoods for our tenants and the wider community through the effective management and investigation of low level ASB complaints.

Key duties and responsibilities of our Anti-Social Behaviour Officer:

  • Acting as an advocate for customers regarding housing ASB issues and liaising with relevant departments/partner organisations to ensure swift resolution
  • Responsive, proactive investigation of low /medium level ASB, addressing the root cause, ensuring where possible support has been offered and/or exhausted before escalation, preparing quality case files for escalation as appropriate
  • Lead low /medium level ASB cases within the remit of the post, and in line with thresholds and agreed procedures, and support Neighbourhood Officers with response to areas of community tension ensuring effective caseload management, prioritising and risk assessing accordingly
  • Building and maintaining effective professional relationships with internal and external partners to tackle and prevent ASB
  • Supporting continuous improvement and increased satisfaction in relation to the management of ASB
  • Ensuring casework is of the highest quality and ensuring residents feel supported throughout the process
  • Interviewing and challenging alleged perpetrators of anti-social behaviour to discuss the reports, explore causes, assess risk and discuss solutions
  • Work with community groups and representatives to agree local priorities in the area (e.g., Tenants and Resident Associations, Your Community Your Say groups, Tenant Voice Panel

What we’re looking for in our Anti-Social Behaviour Officer:

  • NVQ Level 3 / BTEC National Certificate or equivalent or relevant experience/transferable skills
  • The ability to communicate with residents and colleagues effectively
  • Experience in social housing, including ASB or Estate and Tenancy Management or Community Safety related work
  • Experience working with software applications including Microsoft Office and bespoke IT Systems
  • The ability to organise and prioritise own workload with minimum supervision
  • The ability to understand and meet the needs of customers to ensure excellent customer service
  • The ability to prepare and present information concisely and clearly and adapt communication for a range of audiences, including the ability to influence, negotiate and persuade
