The salary for this role is £43,923 per annum for working 36 hours per week. This is a 12-month secondment / fixed term contract.

We are excited to be hiring a new Applications Senior Specialist to join our fantastic team. We are based in Woodhatch Place, Reigate, however we also support remote working, which means you won't be required to be in the office 5 days a week.

As part of a team supporting colleagues across Surrey County Council, you'll play a crucial role in helping them be more productive and efficient.

About the Role

The IT&D Service of Surrey County Council plays a crucial role in providing technical expertise and guidance to develop effective business solutions for County Council Services. Their mission is to ensure the efficient delivery of front-line services.

As an Applications Senior Specialist within the Education and Social Care Applications Team, your primary responsibility will be to support and enhance the ownership of systems. Specifically, you'll focus on Social Care and Education IT systems supplied by System C within a Microsoft based environments.

In this role, your key responsibilities include:

  • Prioritising Workloads: Efficiently managing your tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Updating Call Logging Systems: Accurately maintaining records and monitoring progress with third parties.
  • Process Enhancement: Contributing to the development of processes that improve service efficiency.
  • Project Management: Overseeing the execution and delivery of small to medium projects or acting as a resource for larger projects, following the best practice methodologies.

  • Effective Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for both technical and non-technical communication.

Your role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of critical systems that impact the delivery of essential services.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your attachedpersonal statement will clearly evidence:

  • Provision of 2nd line and 3rd line IT support for critical business applications.
  • Experience of supporting System C products or other Social Care/Education applications.
  • Managing the technical and application support of systems, in development, testing, upgrades and production environments within a change management process (Application Lifecycle). Working as part of a team supporting colleagues in project and "business as usual" support.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, with strong interpersonal communication skills both technical and non-technical and provide excellent customer service.
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks, such as ITIL.
  • Strong problem solving, diagnosis and monitoring skills in order to provide a high level of system availability.
  • Analytical thinker with excellent attention to detail and a strong personal drive to deliver high standards, best practices and documented procedures.
