Applied Knowledge Test Question Management Group Member (PLAB)
£325 per full day of provision of serves and training days and £160.50 for half days for the provision of services.
An opportunity has arisen for successful applicants to join the General Medical Council in a critical role that will help us assess the knowledge and skills of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) wanting to practise medicine in the UK. Share your experience and excellence as a practicing NHS doctor to ensure IMGs are assessed by clinicians who understand what is required of Foundation Programme doctors.
As a Question Management Group Member (QMG), you'll be part of the team responsible for formulating PLAB questions. You will work together with your peers to write, assess and review the validity and reliability of the questions which will be published in future exam papers.
Applicants should be on the GMC’s Register, either on the Specialist Register, or be Trainees (successfully completed ST3 or above or equivalent). They should also have good understanding of the duties and competencies expected of a doctor successfully completing Foundation Year 1 training. We are not currently recruiting for GPs, but would welcome candidates with a background in:
- General medicine and emergency medicine
- Medical specialties (haematology, renal, rheumatology, acute medicine and care of the elderly)
- Radiology
- Surgical specialties (general surgery, urology, orthopaedics)
As an expert in your area of practice, this role that will be a great opportunity to develop your skills and your network as a respected healthcare professional.
You will need to make yourself available for at least six days each calendar year. The role is based at our Spinningfields office in Manchester. Work may also need to be completed virtually or at our London office on occasion. You will be eligible to claim appropriate travel, hotel and subsistence.
