Description
Working with experienced engineers installing and maintaining Electronic Security Systems & Automatic Fire Alarms in line with the relevant British Standards. We require you to commit to the professional training, through in house and college-based training.
  • Electrical and electronic principles - including codes of practice, commissioning, design criteria and installation, testing and maintenance techniques
  • Installing, testing and maintaining different systems - including a range of fire, emergency and security systems
  • System technologies - including storing, retrieving, manipulating, transmitting and receiving electronic data across a range of information communication technology (ICT) applications
  • Using ICT tools and equipment - including email, mobile devices, personal computers and web applications
  • Communications - including communication styles and communicating in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner
  • Specialist fire, security, fire and emergency lighting or fire and security technician skills
  • Health and Safety practices, regulations and legislation within fire, emergency and security environments - including environmental compliance
  • All we ask is that you have a passion for learning our trade and can demonstrate that you are pro-active in your learning

Entry requirements
​​​​​​English and Maths, A*- C or equivalent (4-9). Those who do not hold these qualifications will be required to complete functional skills Level 2 before completion of the apprenticeship. Skills for Security can support this.
Training to be provided
  • Fire Emergency Security Systems Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Skills for Security will deliver the apprenticeship training in block release at their training centre. You will attend centre one week every eight weeks.
  • You will be required to complete all training tasks allocated during your block release weeks at the training centre and gather any site evidence needed to supplement your studies.
  • You will be required to complete an annual assessment at the training centre and take part in any additional training courses that the company require you to complete.
  • The employer will mentor and coach you on the job. You will also shadow, learn and get involved in all aspects of Fire and Security alarms.
  • The successful candidate will be fully supported by a workplace mentor while undertaking the Level 3 Fire, Emergency & Security Systems Technician apprenticeship.
  • We also have the opportunity to supplement the apprenticeship training in house with extra FireQual CPD approved courses.
Things to consider
1 Pendeford place is the contracted place of work so travel to and from our head office is not paid, Travel to and from site is a paid travel time (after 30 mins travel)

Once qualified this successful candidate may have the opportunity to be considered for a qualified/Improver role we may have available where your OTE can range from £30-£40,000 per annum. We are keen to encourage our apprentices to stay and grown further within the business & to continue to support them, when qualified there is always a lot to learn within the industry as the technology progresses so will your skills its an ever evolving role.
