Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative
Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / 3 Years from Start Date 2nd September 2024

Join our fantastic Housing team as an Apprentice working towards gaining a core trade and recognised Level 2 qualification in Property Maintenance.
During the 3-year apprenticeship, you’ll work in vacant properties that need repair, rebuilds to make properties suitable for new tenants or work within in a customer’s home. You’ll undertake a range of multi trade tasks including groundworks, as well as plastering, plumbing, and bricklaying. You’ll work closely with tenants and leaseholders when doing repairs and maintenance, providing advice and guidance to customers ensuring that they are kept informed of progress.
You’ll have a clear career progression plan and gain invaluable hands-on practical experience along the way. You’ll join a supportive team of Operatives, Team Leaders and members of the apprenticeship management team who will provide you with support throughout the duration of your apprenticeship. Spending some of your apprenticeship studying your chosen course at college, you’ll learn the theory behind your new skills which will enable you to put them into practice in the workplace thereafter. Additionally, you’ll be supported in completing coursework or preparing for any exams.
This is a full-time, fixed term post for 3 years, working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Your working environment may sometimes be cramped, and you may be required to work at height and outdoors in all weathers, at all times of the year. You’ll be flexible to attend evening lectures if required.
What you’ll need
Ideally, you’ll have experience in house maintenance or improvement, gained through employment, work experience, voluntary work, home D.I.Y, school, or college courses. With some literacy and numeracy skills, you’ll be able to prove your commitment to undergo a course of study and training up to and including apprentice Level 2. You’ll be able to demonstrate mechanical reasoning, and practical abilities in relation to building and maintenance activities. Striving towards providing the best possible customer service, you’ll be committed to producing work of a high quality. With the ability to work as part of a team, you’ll be able to use your own initiative and take the lead when circumstances arise. Self-motivated, you’ll be able to manage time effectively and meet work deadlines. You’ll have a genuine determination and a keen willingness to learn, as well as passion and drive to aspire to be an excellent Craft Operative.

Due to the volume of application, we get for our apprenticeship programme there will be numerous stages to the recruitment process. If your application is successful, you’ll be required to attend a various stage of progressive testing and an interview - these will all take place during the months of April through to June.
