Apprentice Quality Control Chemist

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their Quality Control team as an Apprentice. Under the supervision of an Analytical Chemist, you will learn to provide a comprehensive Quality Control service to the business, covering analysis of raw material, final products and environmental testing. The position will also involve studying for a HNC in Chemistry which will involve travelling one day per week to study at Manchester Metropolitan University.

THE ROLE

· Analysing and determining status of all raw materials, finished goods, wastes and returned materials

· Entering data into SAP and other IT systems

· Calibration of analytical equipment

· Issuing Certificates of Analysis

· Maintaining sample retention system

· Ensuring appropriate records are kept and maintained

· Assisting with continuous improvement activities, root cause analysis and troubleshooting

· Preparing and packing samples for customer evaluation

· Maintaining good housekeeping within the laboratory

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Strong communication skills, able to build relationships
• A good level of IT literacy to include Microsoft Office suite
• An A level or equivalent Level 3 qualification in chemistry or science
• Experience of working in a laboratory environment would be advantageous
