Job description

There’s never been a more exciting time to join Doncaster Council.

We are passionate about Doncaster - it’s a great place to live, do business and visit.

We have plenty to shout about – Doncaster is the UK’s best connected location, we have many major developments in the pipeline, a vibrant urban centre with a thriving arts and cultural scene, sport and leisure attractions, wonderful green spaces and a fascinating heritage.  We firmly believe, as do our partners, that Doncaster is the place to be with a bright future and ambitions ahead of it.  But don’t just take our word for it – anyone joining the council, can look forward to expanding their knowledge and skills in a dynamic, creative and nurturing environment while truly making a difference to the communities we serve.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Doncaster’s Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) team / Hub.  The post holder will be a core member of the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Team in Doncaster.  The AMHP Team provides a single route of access to all requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983 in the Doncaster Borough.  The remit of the AMHP Team is to provide a timely response to individuals who have been identified as in need of an assessment under the MHA 1983.

As an AMHP you will be responsible for managing referrals and requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983.  You will have overall responsibility for co-ordinating statutory assessments under the MHA 1983 and all other statutory duties and functions of an AMHP.

The post holder will be expected to work a range of shifts (covering daytime hours of 12pm – Midnight, including some weekends on a rota basis, in line with service demand) on a rota pattern. In addition, City of Doncaster Council support flexible working arrangements in order to support colleagues work life balance and wellbeing. This may include condensed hours, a range of shift options available and a blended working approach. Dependent upon shifts worked this post may attract an all-inclusive allowance.

Further details about the responsibilities and requirements of the role are contained in the job profile and role summary.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and access to a range of staff discount and flexible benefits schemes.  Visit our Working in Doncaster - City of Doncaster Council to find out more.
