Job Introduction

Trees are the single largest natural asset that BCP Council manage. 

We are aiming to strengthen our existing Arboricultural Teams in both Planning and Environment, with the addition of arborists in Planning to provide advice on trees with tree work applications and the development management process. We are also looking for arborists to advise on tree inspection and management in the Environment team.

Key responsibilities in Planning Trees:

  • Positively and actively support, the Arboricultural & Landscape Manager and the team on tree and landscaping related matters 
  • Deliver quality advice, skill and knowledge relating to trees and landscaping  
  • Contibute proactively towards maintaining an efficient, effective and well respected team 
  • Ensure that legal requirements relating to protected and unprotected trees are met through accurate and compliant administration of all tree work       
  • Positively represent and provide expert advice relating to trees and landscaping to: Planning services, other Council services, Committees, Councillors, external stakeholders, appeals, enforcement investigation and legal cases
  •  

Key responsibilities in Environment Trees:

  • Positively and actively support, the Arboricultural & Landscape Manager and the team on tree and landscaping related matters.
  • Undertake tree risk management inspections
  • Liaising with aboricultural contractors to ensure work is carried out to the correct standard
  • Deal with both internal and external tree related enquires including liaising with the public, councillors, and other professionals.
