Are you an experienced arborist with a passion for leading teams and delivering exceptional service? We are seeking a talented Arborist Team Leader to join our close-knit team.
In this hands-on role, you will lead a dedicated group of skilled arborists, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of practical arboricultural operations, including tree climbing, dismantling, pruning, stump treatments, and equipment maintenance. Your leadership will be instrumental in upholding the highest safety standards, adhering to client/supervisor instructions, and maintaining our unwavering commitment to best practices.
We are offering a salary of £31,309.18 per annum, increasing to £32,688.59 upon successful completion of LGV.
As the Arborist Chargehand, you will:
- Lead by example, fostering a collaborative and productive environment for your team.
- Oversee and participate in practical arboricultural operations, ensuring adherence to BS3998 2010 and the latest industry standards.
- Maintain the highest standards of operational service delivery across all projects.
- Undertake ground's work in support of our dedicated Grounds teams when required.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, providing guidance and enforcing adherence to safety protocols.
- Liaise closely with the Arboricultural Supervisor, ensuring effective communication and accurate interpretation of work orders.
- Set up and control traffic management and public safety measures at job sites.
- Always uphold our commitment to exceptional customer service.
- Proactively address and resolve day-to-day challenges swiftly, effectively, and safely.
- Adhere to all company policies, risk assessments, safe systems of work, and relevant industry health and safety guidance.
- Demonstrate an understanding of environmental legislation, such as SSSI, WACA, and ecology-related regulations.
- Carry out vehicle checks and complete all relevant compliance-related paperwork.
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- Level 2 0020-3, 0020-4 and Level 3 0021-06 / 0021-07, 0021-08 (or relevant CS Units)
- Full UK driving license and willingness to undertake C1+E license training within 6 months
- Extensive experience in safe arboricultural operations, including work on highways
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety procedures, risk assessment, and safe systems of work
- Working knowledge of the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 and associated requirements
- Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding site conditions
- Strong tree identification and diagnosis skills for injury, disease, decay, and structural defects
- Exceptional teamwork and communication abilities
