Job description

calfordseaden is a leading multi-disciplined construction and property consultancy. We provide a comprehensive range of services to the UK building and construction industry covering civil & structural engineering, building & quantity surveying, clerk of works, project management, employers agent, architecture, mechanical & electrical engineering, sustainability, building information modelling, development monitoring, expert witness, fire consultancy, party wall and health & safety.

The role:

To be an active member of the architectural team, undertaking project work as directed by the architectural partners to the best of your ability, striving to continually improve deliverables.

Please note that we do not differentiate between Architects and Architectural Technicians / Technologists in this job description document but recognise these are, in reality, differing skillsets.

What you will be doing:

  • To provide technical design support to the group in day-to-day activities and client services
  • To Undertake a leading project role, either being responsible for project delivery as a job runner, or, on larger schemes, taking responsibility for a significant proportion of the project. This will include co-coordinating and reviewing input from other design team members, contractors, clients etc. as well as managing the design process.
  • To be aware of individual project parameters and take personal responsibility for delivery to programme, cost and quality requirements.
  • To be aware and manage priorities and help to achieve both project and group deliverables.
  • To be proactive in achieving continuous improvement across the group.
  • To mentor more junior members of staff.
  • Assist the Architectural Partners in developing the Architectural Team into a successful group that works well for and within calfordseaden.
  • Maintain excellent relations and work collaboratively with other internal groups within calfordseaden.
  • Developing a working knowledge of contracts.
  • To self-check work prior to passing across for more senior colleagues to provide final review before issuing externally.
  • The role is also likely to involve some support to our principal designers with regard to the building safety act

You will be required to carry out any other duties consistent with the post that may be required from time to time, at the discretion of the Architectural Partners.

What you will need:

Qualifications

It is recognised there are two routes that can been taken in becoming a Senior Professional, Architecture:

The Architectural route requires:

  • To be a qualified UK architect, with a degree, a masters and a part 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Registered on ARB’s register of Architects.
  • RIBA Chartered Architect, or eligible for registration.

The Technologist route requires:

  • It is recognised there are a variety of methods to becoming an Architectural Technician or Technologist, including through a HND, BTech or Masters qualification, or through industry experience.
  • Ideally individuals will have CIAT membership to demonstrate ability.

Knowledge

  • Qualified Architect or Technologist/Technician with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
  • The cs Architectural team work across the residential, retail, education, healthcare, commercial, community and senior living sectors and a broad range of experience to reflect these specialisms is desirable.

Skills

  • High quality design and/or technical abilities.
  • Proficient in BIM.
  • Proficient with REVIT & Enscape.
  • Proficient use of IT skills, including Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to work collaboratively.
  • Good in using Adobe Suite, with particular reference to InDesign & Photoshop.
  • Developing the ability to produce specification documentation, particularly through NBS Chorus.
  • Job running abilities.
  • Exhibits problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to produce reports in good, business English.

Eligibility

  • Appropriate qualification and minimum post-qualification experience.
  • Provide a CV and a portfolio of appropriate technical and design work.
  • Proficiency in REVIT
  • Currently have unconditional and indefinite right to work in the UK
