About the role:
The Property Design Services (PDS) section of Powys County Council is seeking to recruit an Architectural Assistant to provide additional design and contract administration capacity.
PDS provides a multi-disciplinary consultancy service for the Council, including Architects, Building Surveyors, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Building Services Engineers.
The successful applicant will be working on a range of new build and refurbishment projects, predominantly within the council’s new social housing programme.
About you:
- You will have worked as an architectural designer and will have a good working knowledge of construction design and its associated regulation.
- You will have worked within multi-disciplinary design teams, will have led projects and administered construction contracts.
- You will have a practical outlook and will understand how to design and deliver fit-for-purpose buildings.
- You will have an interest in reducing building’s energy demand and carbon emissions and will be keen to develop expertise in appropriate design.
What you will do:
- Working within the Architectural team, the post holder will work on the design and contract administration of a range of new-build and refurbishment projects.
- You will primarily be working on social housing projects but will also work on education and commercial developments.
- The post holder will work to support the Concept Architect on large multi-disciplinary projects and will lead on smaller schemes.
- You will survey buildings and sites, prepare plans and reports, engage with clients, submit applications and direct contractors.
- In this you will be working to deliver projects to an appropriate level of quality within agreed time and cost targets.
